Joseph Edward Maciel
August 4th, 1947 - September 13th, 2018
Joseph Edward Maciel, 71, of Gridley, CA, passed away September 13, 2018 after a tragic incident. He was born August 4, 1947 in Marysville, CA. Joseph went to Yuba City High School, graduating a year early, and then attended Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo. He went on to become a a commercial harvester farming prunes, pistachios, peaches and olives. He received the Northern King award, among others, in his first year for the highest yield. Joe designed and patented shakers and receivers for Kilby. He also created detailed wood work including a full bedroom set and china hutch. Joe was a very creative and hardworking man and owned and operated his own business until retirement. Joe is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Holmes of Greenfield, IN; Aunt Rosie (Brad) Foster; nephew, Eric (Theresa) Foster of Sutter, CA; nieces, Shannon Foster of Yuba City, CA, and Tierney Foster of Sutter, CA; grandsons and granddaughter, Andrew Maciel of Indianapolis, IN, Trevor Holmes, Gairett Holmes Dayvanie Holmes all of Greenfield, IN; great-granddaughter and great-grandson Elizabeth Maciel and Edwin Maciel of Indianapolis, IN; mother, Mary Ann (Cambra) Woods of Yuba City, CA; 1 great-nephew and 4 great-nieces. A special thank you to family friends Aaron and Laurie Schuster for all you've done on Joe's behalf. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Maciel (2008) and brother Larry Maciel (1993). A viewing will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018, from 4:00-6:00PM followed by a Rosary at 6:00PM at Ullrey's Memorial Chapel. Services will be on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 11:00AM at St. Isadore's Catholic Church officiated by Father Avram Brown. Burial will follow at Sutter Cemetery. Donation can be made in Joe's name to the American Diabetes Association.
