Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations
Joseph C. Monteith
June 29th, 1946 - July 14th, 2022
Joe Monteith, age 76, of Matthews, NC peacefully passed away at home on July 14, 2022. He was born in Rutherfordton, NC to the late George Joseph Monteith and Helen (Cline) Monteith. Joe graduated from RS Central High school. He attended Garner Webb and Florida State Universities studying both Geology and Business. In 1967 Joe began his 52-year insurance career, spending 35 years as an Officer with Dean, Heckle & Hill Inc. in Matthews, NC before his retirement in 2019. Joe's contributions to his industry included active memberships in the Charlotte Association of Life Underwriters, Charlotte Association of Health Underwriters and the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina. Joe was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt in North Carolina and Tennessee. He took epic trips to multiple states including Alaska, Montana, Iowa, Minnesota and to Canada, visiting Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia. Joe enjoyed golf and played enthusiastically (for fun and money) for over thirty years. He was a founding member of Providence Country Club in Charlotte. Joe loved his dogs who proceeded him in passing, Maggie, Tara, Buck, Rork and Buster. He enjoyed bridge, college football, the NFL, music, comedy, fresh vegetables, good old Southern cooking, Marlboro ultralights and vodka tonic "no produce". Joe was a Board Member of Trout Unlimited in Charlotte for nine years, a Board Member of the Windrow Homeowners Association and the Parent Coordinator of Windrows swim team.Joe is survived by his loving wife, Rozanna, son Zack, daughter in law, Debe, granddaughters, Jayden and Ella Grace, step granddaughter, Madison Paige Drum, stepson Randall Taliaferro and countless friends. We would be remiss not to mention his faithful and loving canine companion, Molly, who never left his side throughout her life and his passing. She was his pride and joy. The family would like to thank his caregivers from Visiting Angels and the hospice team who helped us all on this journey.
