Joseph M. O'Donnell

Joseph M. O’Donnell, 91, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2020 surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of the late Margaret (Rizzotti) O’Donnell, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Neil and Margaret (Kilkenny) O’Donnell. After graduating from Peabody High School in 1948, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sea Dog Submarine during the Korean War. Joe met the love of his life, Margaret at a high school dance, where they fell in love, married and raised five children together. He retired from the Peabody School System to Florida where he continued to enjoy golfing, fishing, gardening, listening to Irish music and traveling. Ireland held a special place in his heart. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his sons, James O’Donnell (Donna) and John O’Donnell; daughters, Grace Hunt (Jim), Margaret O’Donnell (Chuck) and Janet Hogan (Tom); sisters-in-law Cecile O’Donnell and Dolores Rizzotti; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brothers: Martin, Phil, Neil, and sister, Margaret. Joe will now be reunited with his wife, Margaret for eternity. He will be remembered as a dedicated father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, who was liked by all. He was always willing to lend a hand helping others. He will be greatly missed. There will be a private service for immediate family on October 24th, at Loyless Funeral Home, Land O’ Lakes, FL.
