Joseph Papania. 86, passed away on February 23, 2014. He was born Oct. 28, 1927 to Antonio and Mary Papania. He married Catherine in 1953 in Utica, New York. Joseph served in the U.S. Army for two years and attended the University of Maryland and subsequently joined the Bendix Corp. in Baltimore, Md. After serving there approximately 20 years in 1969 he was offered a transfer to Cape Canaveral to work on the Apollo program. In 1976 as this program was nearing completion he accepted a position with the company in Grand Junction, Colorado, involving evaluation of uranium sources. His assignments in his career were administrative positions in contract administration, business management, and his las position at Grand Junction was Director of Material. Upon retirement from Bendix, he took a position with AAI Corporation, in their Orlando Operation which was involved in the development of simulation equipment for the government. He retired in 1988. Joseph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine, his sister Carolyn (Gabriel) Bove, niece Donna (Keith) Pernicano, nephews Gabriel (Phyllis) Bove, Joseph (Sharon) Bove, and John (June) McCauley and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph and Catherine were active members at Church of Our Saviour and were involved in numerous ministries including serving as Eucharistic ministers. We wish to thank Dr. Vincent P. Marino and his staff for the many years of excellent care. Also the staff at Cape Canaveral Hospital, and Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice and Hospice House. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 8th at Church of Our Saviour. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Our Saviour's School, 5301 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach,Fl.32931.
