"South Hadley, Joseph "Armand" Paul, 98, died peacefully on Monday, April 16 at Loomis Skilled Nursing Center. He was born in Chicopee on April, 25, 1919 and was the son of Joseph and Rosanna (Bergeron) Paul. Armand proudly served in the US Army and Navy during WWII. He relocated to Jamestown, NC and was employed by Gilbarco as a supervisor for 35 years before his retirement. Armand moved back to this area in 1999 to be closer to his family. He loved to dance and especially loved western square dancing as well as two step and ballroom style dancing. He was a 50+ yrs. member of the American Legion Post 275 Chicopee. Joseph and his wife were big believers in donating to good causes. This past year in honor of his “Sailing Buddy”/nephew, Raymond LeClair, who died this past January, a significant donation was made to the Sister Caritas Cancer Center which will help many others in need of their great care. He leaves his niece, Marion LeClair of South Hadley, and nephews, Roland Durocher of Arizona and Francis and Dennis Paquette of MA, along with his godchildren and many great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. He will be deeply missed by all. Besides his parents and nephew Raymond, he was predeceased by his wife, Annette (Paquette) in 2008, whom he married in 1951, his brother, Lucien and his sisters, Lena and Juliette along with his nieces, Lucille Durocher and Yvette Gengreau. A graveside service with military honors will be on Saturday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m. St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chicopee. Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Sister Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA, 01104."
