Joseph P. Querbes
March 13th, 1914 - July 30th, 2006
Mr. Joseph P. Querbes, 92 formerly of Gloversville, died Sunday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Mr. Querbes had been a resident of the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown prior to his admission to the hospital. He was born March 13, 1914 in Johnstown, son of the late Joseph and Pauline Guibert Querbes. He was educated in local schools. Earlier in life, Mr. Querbes was an avid hunter and also enjoyed bowling and golf. He was employed as a printer at the former Decca, MCA and UNI Corporations until retiring in 1979. During WW Two, he served in the Marine Corps. Mr. Querbes was married to Louise Dunn Querbes who pre-deceased him several years ago. He is survived by his children: William J. Querbes and his wife Christine of Niskayuna, and Linda J. Vitello and her husband Donald of Syracuse. He is also survived by a sister, Madeline Dunham of Gloversville, and his grandchildren: Andy, Darcy and Diane Vitello, and Brandon, Bill, Julie and Sara Querbes, as well as nieces and nephews. Mr. Querbes was pre-deceased by a sister, Margo Hoose and two brothers; Paul and James Querbes. A prayer service will be held 9:30 am Wednesday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street Gloversville, and at 10 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Algonquin Cemetery, Wells, N.Y. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society 260 Osborne Rd. Loudonville, N.Y. 12211.
