Joseph D. Seiler, 60, of Viera, FL passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at his home. He is survived by his children Katy, Vicky, and Tommy, and his sister Kathy Stein. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph & Elizabeth Seiler. Joe spent the early part of his career at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage working in Subcontracts. He continued on to United Technologies, and then to Harris Corporation when he moved to Florida. Most recently Joe was working in transportation for the Brevard County School Board. Joe spent many happy hours in his youth playing stickball, surfing, and fishing. He developed a love for tennis and golf, and became involved in SCUBA. This led to many happy camping trips with the Grumman Dive Club to the Keys and the springs of North Florida as well as wreck dives off the coast of Long Island. Joe had a strong interest in American History and World War II history. He was always reading a book on one of the subjects, and was happy to engage in conversation about what he had learned. Joe married Patricia Blaurock in 1987. They moved to Florida and had great adventures with their Boston Whaler behind their home on the Indian River. They were blessed with a daughter Kathryn in 1990, Victoria in 1993, and a son Thomas in 1995. Joe realized a lifelong dream when the family made a 30 day, 10,000 mile cross-country trip in 2005 with their camper enabling them to appreciate the beauty of America.

We are broken hearted at the loss of a good man, a good friend. He was the best sub-contractor in the business. He was a loving father. We will miss him. May he rest in peace.

What a great friend Joe was in our teenage years. Playing stickball at the Junior High and bodysurfing at Jones Beach. A sweet, fun, loyal friend. Many very fond memories of our time together. Will be thinking of you often, Joe.

I am very sorry for your loss. You may find comfort at Psalm 34:18, "Jehovah (God) is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Fond Memory - January 26, 2014 Posted: January 26, 2014 | Last Revised: January 26, 2014 Joe and I played cornet in the high school band. We sat together which meant we gabbed all the time. Made silly noises and were as disruptive as two wacky teens can be. Laughing was our pastime. When I think of Joe I always smile. Always will.

Patricia, Katy, Vicky, and Tommy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Joe was taken at such a young age. Please take comfort and peace that Joe loved you all so much. Until I met Joe, I never knew a man who loved his wife and kids to the extent that he loved and adored you all. I hope you enjoyed the swing set, he was very proud of it. I'm very grateful you guys did that trip in 2005 because that is all Joe talked about and couldn't wait to hit the road with his family. You were blessed with a great Dad and husband. I was blessed in that Joe was the best boss I ever had. He was a good teacher, very patient and really took pride in his work. He will be missed!
