Joseph J. Stahl lI Joseph J. Stahl, 88, of Colleton River Plantation died in his home on Sunday, October 28, 2018. He is survived by four sons, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He moved to the Hilton Head area with his wife, Evelyn Marie Stahl, in 1996 after vacationing here for many years. Evelyn passed away in 2003. Joe and Evelyn made many valued friends both in the Colleton River Plantation as well as the Elk River County Club in Banner Elk, North Carolina where they maintained a second home. Joe was originally from Garden City, Long Island where he raised his family. Later, he moved to Chicago, Illinois and then New York City before retiring to the Hilton Head area. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross (Cum Laude) with a B.A. in Mathematics and Philosophy. Throughout his career, he held numerous company and professional association positions as an accomplished and respected actuary. During his retirement, his houses often served as home for family gatherings and reunions. His efforts to bring the family together will be sorely missed. His presence can never be replaced. His remains have been sent to Long Island for burial with his beloved wife, Evelyn. The family will hold a ceremony with military honors at his final place of resting.
