Joseph "Joe" James Tennessen
December 19th, 1932 - February 1st, 2021
Joseph "Joe” James Tennessen, 88, of Greeley passed away February 1, 2021 at Columbine Commons in Windsor. He was born December 19, 1932 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin to Herman Harold and Theresa Cecelia (Arts) Tennessen where he grew up. Joe attended Central Technical Institute in Kansas City where he received his First Class Radio License and then attended Garden City Community College. He married Joan Elizabeth McKee on October 30, 1953 in Garden City, KS. Joe’s professional career began at KIUL in Garden City before locating to Greeley and KFKA Radio. He later worked for Cable Vision, New Frontier Bank and lastly with Habitat for Humanity. Joe loved baseball and was also a long-time Denver Bronco ticket holder. He served as the "Voice of Greeley” for many occasions and was behind the microphone at many UNC School of Performing Arts and community fundraising events. While active in many community functions, Joe was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Greeley Rotary Club and volunteered his time with volunteer opportunities and board participation. Thankful to have shared his life are his wife, Joan, children; Ann (Mike) Stewart, Don (Mary) Tennessen, Barbara (Steve) Linenberger, Cathy Tennessen, Nancy (John) Dolan, Jean Gerardi and Chuck (Lisa) Tennessen, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, siblings; Bob Tennessen, Mary Gansen and Julianna Blaylock. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Chuck and Ann Marie. Joe’s family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Adamson Life Celebration Home, wearing masks and observing social distancing. A private family Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church. Inurnment at Linn Grove Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to "Habitat for Humanity” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com.
