Joseph A. Testa

Joseph A. Testa, 85, of Northern Boulevard, passed away Thursday morning, April 10, 2014, at his home with his loving family at his bed side. Born in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of the late Aniello and Angelina Natoli Testa. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Joe was employed as a leather sorter for Amsterdam Glove Company for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course playing every Tuesday evening. Joe was also a fixture at the O.T.B. in Amsterdam. He was a great cook and known for all his great Italian diners that he would cook for all his family and friends. Joe loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. On September 9, 1951 he married the former Theresa C. LaConte. Besides being survived by his wife of 63 years of marriage, Joe is survived by his daughter, Deborah A. (James) Sprung of Johnstown; a sister Lena Bucciferro of Perth; three grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Sponaas, Gary Vertucci and Brandon Vertucci; seven great grandchildren, Jasmine, Jayson, Annamarie, Adrianna, Gary Joseph, Jr., Joseph and Zakary; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Joe was predeceased by five brothers, Anthony, Fred, Al, Frankie and Tommie and two sisters, Mary and Rosie. Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 4:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 2to 4 pm at the funeral home.
