Joshua Ruben Contreras

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother Joshua “Bash” Contreras. Joshua was born on June 28th, 1992, to Ruben Roybal and Renee Contreras, in Albuquerque, NM, and left to heaven on December, 19th, 2023. Upon the passing of his parents, he was raised in the home of his Aunt and Uncle, John and Jeanette Mares. He is survived by his only son, Giovanni Contreras, sisters Shirleyann Valdez and Veronica Mares, and brothers Lawrence, and Gabriel Mares, with many nieces and nephews as well. He is preceded in death by his biological parents, Ruben “Boobie” and Renee, and adoptive mom and brother, Jeanette and Nicholas, along with many departed friends and family members. Joshua loved his Ninas Vicky and Lorraine very much and had a very special bond with his Nino Lawrence. Joshua was kind-hearted, funny and was the type of person to take the shirt off his back if you needed it. Joshua’s services will be held on Thursday January 11th, 2024 at San Jose Parish, 2401 Broadway Blvd SE 87102. A rosary will be said at 10am, followed by a funeral mass at 1030. Following the rosary and mass, we will proceed to San Jose de Armijo cemetery for the vutial. Please join us as we celebrate Joshua’s life, with all that knew and loved him.
