Joyce G. Chewning

Joyce (Littlefield) Chewning, cherished mother and Nana of Bradenton, Florida, peacefully passed from this world on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on December 31, 1940, in Rubonia, Florida to John Samuel Littlefield and Lillie V. (Craig) Littlefield. Throughout her life, Joyce's loving spirit touched the lives of many. During her active years, Joyce dedicated her professional life as an Education Instructor at HCA Florida Blake Hospital until her well-deserved retirement. Her dedication to her work was only surpassed by her commitment to her community and family. In her later years, Joyce enjoyed attending church with her son at Bayside Community Church and was known for her friendliness and spirited personality. Joyce found joy in simple pleasures such as crocheting, reading mystery and romance novels, and expressing her creativity through arts and crafts. Her passion for oil painting and crocheting shone through as she shared her creations with others. Joyce was also known for her love of good seafood and walks along the beach. Above all else, Joyce treasured her role as the nurturing matriarch of her family. Her presence brought warmth and love to those around her. She treasured hugging her grandchildren and being their Nana. Joyce's legacy lives on through the love and compassion she bestowed upon her family. In addition to her parents and siblings, Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, April Canfield. Her memory will be forever treasured by all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Survivors include her children, Cathy (Myron) Martin, Leanne Wydner, Cynthia Chewning, and Craig Chewning; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and sister-in-Christ, Rosemary Murray. Her funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024 at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, Florida. Graveside services to be held at Gillette Cemetery, 8996 Ellenton Gillette Rd., Palmetto, Florida.
