Joyce B. Healey, 86, of Salinas passed away peacefully at home Sunday March 20, 2016 . Joyce was born June 11, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in San Francisco, CA. She married the love of her life, Herbert C. Healey on Valentine’s Day in 1954. Shortly after, they moved to Salinas. At that time they founded the Salinas Valley Mortuary, which today is the well known Healey Mortuary. Joyce was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. During this time, she dedicated countless hours helping at Dorothy’s Kitchen and even traveled to Jamaica to help build schools with her fellow church members. She was also a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Joyce loved to travel. She and Herb traveled most of their married life. They visited China, Africa, and many European countries as well as places close to home. Any opportunity for adventure, she was ready to go! She is preceded in death by, her husband, Herbert C. Healey Jr., February 17, 2010. Joyce is survived by, Her brother, George Monaco of Lakeport, CA. Her children, Andrea Hatfill, David (Lindy) Healey, Margaret and Kay Healey. Grandchildren, Michelle and Jacob Thomas and Desiray (John) Brees, Chris (Molly) Healey, Michael and Jennifer Healey, Joshua and Cassie Schmidt, Adrianna and Paige Snow and six great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 10 am Saturday March 26, 2016 at the Healey Mortuary. Private burial will take place at the San Joaquin National Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to IPPL (www.ippl.org) or to the charity of your choice.

He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
