"Amherst, Joyce (Almonte) Wyman, 82, died peacefully January 28, 2011. Born in Pittsfield, ME, August 2, 1928 to Patsy and Mary (Cianchette) Almonte, she lived for many years in Ashland, MA before relocating to Belchertown in 1977. A graduate of Maine Central Institute in 1946, she and fellow graduates continued a tradition of annual gatherings referred to as Senior Citizens Pajama Party. Prior to her marriage, she worked for Western Union. She also served as recording secretary for South Middlesex NAACP for 14 years. Joyce worked at many restaurants during her life, including Carbone's in Hopkinton and was also part owner of Bazel's Pizza Shop in Holliston from 1981-1985. Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends; especially the large family gatherings. Joyce and her husband, Stan, have been hosting a 4th of July celebration for her extended family for many years. The 2010 gathering marked the 54th year of this annual tradition. Joyce�s glass was always more than half full and her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit were appreciated by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 62 years, Stanley Wyman, along with her sons Jack Wyman of Holliston, Jay Wyman and his wife Cheryl of Holliston, daughters Jan Porter and husband Paul of Upton, Jill Ackerman and husband Owen of Ashland, along with her grandchildren Courtney Canto and husband Carlos of Natick, Christopher Wyman of Natick, and Kali and Cara Ackerman of Ashland. Additionally her sister Virginia Almonte of Southborough, and brother Perino Almonte of Pittsfield, ME survive her. She also leaves 3 sisters-in-law, Barbara Kitchin and husband Esmond, Betty Hussey and husband Wayne, and Janice Coston, and brother-in-law Barry Wyman and wife June, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, her children Jean, Jane and Joel Wyman preceded her in death. Calling hours will be Friday, February 4th from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St. (Rte. 202) Belchertown, MA. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m in St. Francis Church, 24 Jabish St., Belchertown. Friends and family may gather by 10:00 am prior to the mass. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, for those wishing, please make donations to St. Francis Church Building Fund, 10 Park St, Belchertown, MA 01007. "
