Juan Torres

Mr. Juan Torres, 51, 0f East Main St., Amsterdam passed away Tuesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital, in Amsterdam with his family by his side. Born on May 14, 1953 in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Dolores and Carmen Ventura Torres. Juan lived in Kings County in Brooklyn, NY until moving to Amsterdam in 2004. While living in Brooklyn, Juan enjoyed working as a self employed driver for a local livery service. He also was an avid boxing and professional wrestling fan and did some amateur wrestling for many years. Survivors include his 2 sons, Juan Torres Jr. of Amsterdam, and Christian Torres of New York City; a daughter, Jeanette Torres of Puerto Rico; 6 brothers, Guillermo Torres and his wife Gloria of Puerto Rico, Luis Torres of Bronx, NY, Reinaldo Torres and his wife Ruth of Florida, Miguel Torres of Amsterdam, Jose Torres and his wife Julia of Amsterdam, and Geraldo Torres of Amsterdam; 2 sisters, Antonia Pagan and her husband Joaquin of Amsterdam, and Gloria Torres of Amsterdam; a sister in-law, Lillian Torres of Amsterdam; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam followed by a Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St., Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence J. Decker officiating. The burial will take place on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, NJ. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
