Juan Bautista Velasquez

Juan Bautista Velásquez, age 73, of Cañones, NM, passed away August 4, 2017. Surviving him is his beloved wife, Albertina Velásquez; loving children, Isaiah, Daniel, and Melissa Velásquez; and grandchildren, Genaro and Sunrise Velásquez. He was a descendant of a generational ancestral line of Velásquez; his grandparents were Vidal & Delfinia Velásquez (deceased); his great-grandparents, Juan Bautista and Josefa Velasquez, paternal great-great grandfather, Juan Bautista Valdez, Northern New Mexico land grant heir. He was born in Cañones, NM to Genaro Sr. and Eva Velásquez (deceased), and was one of several siblings which include Genaro Velásquez Jr. (deceased), Dora, Delfinio, Vidal, Susie, Sammy, Elmer and Aurelia. Serving as pallbearers are Leonard Velásquez, Isaiah Velásquez, Daniel Velásquez, Melissa Velásquez, Michael Velásquez, and Arturo Valdez. Honorary pallbearers are Salazar Ranch brothers, (Cornelio, Lorenzo, Manuel, Lino, Jake, Carlos & Armando); Velasquez Logging, (Rudy Sr., Rudy Ben, Earl, Dennis, Norris & Wayne (deceased); and close family friend Scott Carmody. Visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 6:00 PM at San Miguel Catholic Church, Cañones, NM with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, August 12, 2107 at 11:00 AM at San Miguel Catholic Church with Interment to follow at the Velásquez Family Cemetery.
