Judith R. Daniel July 8, 1930 " June 4, 2014 Judith R. Daniel, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at Harris Hospice. She was born in Hot Springs, Virginia, on July 8, 1930 to the late Hansel L. and Coma Walker Rayburn. Judith graduated from Central High School in 1947, and attended Queens College for two years, where she majored in Home Economics. She retired from Presbyterian Hospital Business Office in 1992, after working there for 25 years. She joined Myers Park Baptist Church in 1944, and was very active in Young Adults where she met her husband, Joseph W. (Bill) Daniel, whom she was married to for 54 years. She also sang in the Adult Chancel Choir, and her love in life was volunteering in the church library. Before moving to Brighton Gardens she and her husband lived on Sulkirk Road in Beverly Woods for some 42 years. She loved to garden when she was young, and later became an active member in Beverly Woods Garden Club. Judith had a special talent and interest in cooking, canning, and entertaining friends and family at her home. She had a passionate love for people and was always smiling. Judith is survived by her husband Joseph W. (Bill) Daniel, a brother James Rayburn of Homosassa, FL, and sister-in-law Juanita B. Rayburn of Helena, AL. Also surviving are two nephews Bobby Rayburn (Kelly) of Palm Harbor, FL and Brett Rayburn (Cindy) of Vestavia, AL, a niece Beth Thompson of Cullmann, AL and six great-nephews. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by a sister Jean L. Rayburn and a brother H.L. Rayburn, Jr. The family would like to extend a special thanks to two special caregivers, Maxine Carr and Allison Bowers, for their love and compassionate care of Judy and Bill for the last 10 years, which in enabled them to stay in their home. A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Myers Park Baptist Church Columbarium. The Reverend Joseph D. Aldrich will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Myers Park Baptist Church Library, 1900 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.
