Judith Ann Fortney

Judith Ann Fortney, 83, passed away July 5, 2023, in Port Charlotte, FL. She was born on September 4, 1939, in Knoxville, TN to John and Olga (Haines) Wade. She graduated from DuPont High School in Jacksonville, Florida. She married her husband Jacob S.”Nick” Fortney in 1959. She worked as a seamstress throughout her whole life, whether that be creating her family’s bridesmaid’s dress, completely alterations of wedding dresses, working in the alterations department at department stores, and many sewing crafts. Formerly of Bloomington and Carlock, IL, Judith and Jacob relocated to Port Charlotte, FL in July 1994. Judith enjoyed sewing, sailing, making quilts, and traveling. She is predeceased by her parents John and Olga Wade, and 5 sisters. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jacob S. Fortney, son Scott (Rokhia) Fortney, daughters Lisa (Doug) Shaw and Lori (Bob) Downer, grandchildren Corey, Cassie, David, Elliott, Katie, and Kelsey, great grandchildren Nova, Allie, Max, and Thea, brothers Mike Wade, Joe Wade, and Jay Wade, sister Billie Hord, and many extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 1PM at Charlotte Memorial Cemetery, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A reception will follow from 2PM-4PM.
