Judith "Judy" Ann Hughes
March 5th, 1947 - September 24th, 2018
Mrs. Judith “Judy” Ann Hughes, 71, of Northern Blvd, Hagaman, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday morning, September 24, 2018. Born on March 5, 1947 in Amsterdam she was the daughter of the late James “Tippie” and Antoinette Musillo Martin Jr. A lifelong area resident, Judy was a 1965 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Judy was first employed as a sales clerk for the former Holzheimer and Shaul Clothing Store in Amsterdam. She then worked for many years in medical offices including Doctors Rapello, Iodice, Charland and Rad. For the past 16 years, she was employed as a Financial Counselor for New York Oncology Hematology in the Amsterdam Riverfront Center. She was of the Catholic faith and was a communicant of the former St. Casimir’s Roman Catholic Church and Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Everyone that knew Judy, knew she enjoyed life. Shopping, enjoying a glass of wine, boating on the Great Sacandaga Lake, summer weekends by the pool at the “Bartone Resort” and spending time with those she loved. She enjoyed traveling, especially vacationing in Ogunquit, ME and Cape Cod, MA. Judy loved hosting “Pasta Sunday” with her children and grandchildren. Her daily posts on “Facebook” would brighten everyone’s day. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. On April 21, 1968, she was united in marriage to Mark L. Hughes. That union lasted almost 43 years until his passing on March 14, 2011. She was also predeceased by her beloved son, Mark J. Hughes on April 22, 2005; and her brother James Martin III. Survivors include her son; Martin J. “Marty” Hughes and his wife Linda Bartone- Hughes of Amsterdam; her dear sister, Mary Lou Sobkowicz of Amsterdam; her cherished grandchildren, Shannon Judith, Martina Marie, Mark Andrew, Matthew Joseph, Margaret “Maggie” Antoinette Hughes and Brody Salisbury; Her loving companion, Donald Webster of Scotia; her daughter-in-law, Nori Shannon Hughes of Hagaman; two sister-in-law’s Marcia (Erwin) Harnish and Mary (Fran) Moniz; several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY. Private burial will take place in Hagaman Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to New York Oncology Hematology, 1700 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com
