"South Hadley-Judith A. (Gibson) LaChapelle, 80, passed away peacefully at Loomis House in Holyoke with family by her side. Born in Rochester, NH, Judith was a long-time resident of South Hadley, Mass. She was employed as a manager in the Facilities Dept. at Mount Holyoke College for many years prior to her retirement. Judith enjoyed traveling, having traveled to Europe multiple times and throughout the U.S. and Canada. She will always be remembered for her nurturing and caring nature. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 56 years George “Bing” LaChapelle, along with her two daughters, Laura LaChapelle and husband Thomas Perotti of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Jennifer LaChapelle of South Hadley, as well as three grandchildren Olivia, Madelyn and Lola . Besides her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her son, Jesse LaChapelle (1979), and three siblings, Diane DiStefano, William and Michael Gibson. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 28th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street (Rte 116) in South Hadley followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St Patrick’s Church and burial in the Notre Dame Cemetery.
