Matt loved animals of all kinds from a very young age!

I'm gonna miss you Matt. You were an amazing man. You cared about everything and it didn't matter if it was a tiny cricket, or a misguided man.  I will always remember the first times we worked together, you couldn't even prepare a feeder rat because you cared about the animals that much. You helped me in my life more than anyone could even comprehend and I'm a better man because of it and I thank you. The store you helped create has in turn helped thousands of people and thousands of animals even long after we all are gone. I remember when our friend and coworker Bob got cancer. You were the only friend that was there standing by me in the hospital, to say goodbye to Bob even though it was so tough cause he was passing. You bought him his favorite DVDs and a player and played animal videos when he couldn't even speak or respond.  As he looked at the screen, you could see it in his eyes that he was happy and that's all
you cared about before he passed. These are just a small amount of some of the amazing things that happened because of your time on earth and earth is truly less of a place with you gone. I'm always going to remember our laughs at our texts to each other. Every time I drink a seltzer water, I will never forget how I teased you about how bad the taste was, but I somehow now like drinking them. There are so many things as I type, that I'm remembering, making me laugh at even at a horrible time of your passing, but ironically, I know that is what you would want. I love you like a brother and I will see you soon I'm sure.

Mathew David (Matt) Garrity passed away peacefully with his beloved English Bulldogs Choncho, Ludo, and Rambo by his side in the early morning of April 20, 2024.

Matt was born July 11, 1988, to Doug and Jan Garrity in Idaho Falls Idaho. Matt had an older brother Taylor, a sister-in-law Brittany and a nephew, Grayson and a niece Harper that he loved dearly. Matt moved with his family to Gilbert, Arizona when he was 3 years old spent the remainder of his life here enjoying and exploring all that Arizona offers. He attended Islands Elementary School, Mesquite Junior High School and graduated from Mesquite High School. Matt also studied sound recording, music (guitar) and veterinary technology at Mesa Community College.  

From early childhood, Matt loved animals of all kinds starting of course with dogs and cats, but also ranging from turtles and tortoises (he had a near 100 pound Sulcata tortoise named Delbert Cleon (named after his father-in-law because it had such a kind face) living with him until he passed), to lizards and snakes to even spiders and beetles and owned multiple examples of each even at the end of his life. Matt especially loved wiener dogs as he was growing up (Copper, Hanklin and Lincoln) and later loved English Bulldogs (Choncho, Ludo, and Rambo) as well as cats (Keeko, Sofia and Bonandas) and took wonderful care of all of them. Later in his life he worked with his close friend Shane Weakly to open an exotic animal store in Apache Junction, Arizona named Hold Fast Reptiles and Exotics and helped get the store started successfully.

Matt also loved playing video games, watching movies with family, and racing/driving remote control (RC) cars and he was incredibly good at both. He attended RC car races frequently and won most of the time. He and his father also loved to taking RC cars along with them to drive before them while hiking all over the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix and other beautiful places further north such as Horton Springs east of Payson, Arizona. Matt recorded many videos of these hikes and has posted them on a YouTube channel named Rexor Mg.

Most of all, Matt will be remembered by those that knew and loved him as a kind, compassionate, loving family member, friend and companion that had  a great sense of humor and a near photographic memory and was simply a joy to be with. Matt was also very active in several on-line texting groups and was striving to help people from all over the world. Matt was a joy to be with and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.


REVELATION 21:4 "AND HE WILL WIPE OUT EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYES, AND DEATH WILL BE NO MORE, NEITHER WILL MOURNING NOR OUTCRY NOR PAIN BE ANYMORE. THE FORMER THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY ".
I hope this beautiful promise of God to resurrect the dead here on earth fill your hearts with comfort and peace, soon we'll hug them again.

Many great memories.  A good one that I remember is that he played my patient with our good friend Randy Marcus during practice sessions for my practical exam for medical licensing. A few years later he went to my medical residency graduation in Ohio.

I was very privileged to have known Ed Kley for over 40 years.  He was one the most unassuming and genuine people I have ever met - quick to laugh and very accepting of everyone.  A man with a fondness for cigars and a good story, he'll be missed by so many.  Rest in Peace Ed.

I am honored and beyond grateful to have known you. You were the epitome of showing up for others and I will always remember seeing you in the stands at my high school lacrosse games. You never knew a stranger and you had a heart of gold. You always wore a smile on your face and I know you’re having the best cup of joe and red wine there is in heaven. Rest easy.

Ed was a great mentor, boss and friend. He often used his homespun humor to motivate and stretch you. He was a great sport and we played many practical jokes on each other. Ed always left you with a smile. He made our team and me better. I will always cherish the time we had together. Dana Simmons, Brig Gen (Ret)

Ed was a tremendous mentor and even better friend.  A true OSI Hall of Famer who will be sorely missed.  Thanks Rosemary and Kley family for sharing this remarkable treasure of a man with us.  God Bless the Kleys!

Bernie as we called him is my father. He was the best man in the whole world. They don't make them like that anymore. He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and sole. Dad was a very honest man, if the grocery paid him a dime more he would give it back. I remember when we use to take drives with our mom and dad and if anyone was broke down on the road, my dad would always stop and help them. If we were being naughty as little kids, mom would tell us to behave or she would tell dad when he got home. We straightened right up because we didn't want to disappoint him. We all loved Dad and anyone who ever met him became instant friends. He was admired and loved by all. Holidays are never going to be the same without you Dad.

Nick, (always Mr Kneebone to me) Was one of the best men I ever had the honor to say I knew. His son Paul has always been my best friend for a shade over 50 years now...he was a unimaginably wonderful father, role model and always willing to share his wisdom positive thoughts, advice and attitude as well as as endless jokes and great sense of humor. I truly feel honored and blessed to have been given the opportunity to say that I was gifted with his input and thoughts about life and life's situations and scenarios.... Of course being as I was young I won't deny rolling my eyes or not absorbing it at times...I soon realized after maturing how valuable and heartfelt his words, feelings and thought truly were and what he had given me was thoughts, feelings and advice that is priceless and truly appreciated.... I would love to some day be half the man that he was and I believe he still is,I know he's right by Paul and Mark's side right now and every second for eternity. The world lost one heck of a man and model American but our loss is the other sides gain and I am hoping to catch up to him someday over the rainbow! You will be truly missed by countless folks Mr Kneebone.
