Judy Marie Johnson

August 21st, 1958

Judy Marie Johnson, affectionately known as "Mammy," was born on August 21, 1958, in Oxnard, California. As a military child, she traveled across the country, eventually settling in Woodland Park, Colorado, where she was raised. Judy later moved to Colorado Springs, where she earned her BA Degree from The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Judy is survived by her loving family: her son, Eric Johnson; daughter-in-law, Lt. Col, Kathryn Johnson; and her three cherished grandchildren, Enzo, Emilia, and Ezra Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lt. Commander Daryl Duane Johnson; her mother, Doris Lee Ford; her brother, Daryl Duane Johnson; and her biological father, Billy Chann Chipps.

Judy's life was filled with oy and laughter. She loved singing karaoke with her friends, garage sales, spending precious moments with her grandchildren, and enjoying occasional trips to Las Vegas. Judy never met a stranger and would quickly win your heart over with her quick wit and humor. She was also a very talented writer who had sold many of her poems. The most popular poem was titled:

"Why God Gave Us Two"

Ever wonder why God gives us two?

A right hand to show the left what to do.

One ear to listen and one to hear

the problem of others, their laughter and fears.

One eye to watch and one to behold

the beautiful treasures that life has to hold.

One foot to travel and one to stand tall.

Two feet to land on if we should fall.

One man to stand by a woman's side;

One woman to cherish being his bride.

The love between partners

comes shining through

and that is the reason

God has made two.

Known for her selflessness, Judy made sure everyone around her felt seen and, most importantly, loved. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Judy's legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
