Judy Carol McMurray
May 14th, 1949 - February 25th, 2014
Judy Carol McMurray, 64, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Judy grew up in Speers Ferry, Va and graduated from Gate City High School in 1968. From childhood she knew she wanted to be a nurse at the hospital. She earned her nursing license and worked at Holston Valley Hospital in the Well Baby Nursery and on Skilled Nursing until she was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2002. Judy always felt life should be lived to the fullest and she celebrated everything. She loved to travel and was always looking for her next big adventure. She was a member of Homeland Baptist Church and was active in the Roustabouts, Awana cubbies and VBS. Many will remember her for her card ministry. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by parents Bascom and Bonnie (Spears) Calhoun. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Wolmar Jack McMurray Sr. Children Jack (Misty) McMurray, Michelle (Chris) Luster, Rebecca (Brad) Brown, Kendra Daley and Laura (Larry) Ricketts. Grandchildren Ashley and Abby Luster, Hope and Emily McMurray, Aubrey and Sophia Daley and Jack Ricketts. Sisters Brenda (Freddie) France and Kathy (Ralph) Wiggins. As well as a large extended family. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, (February 28th, 2014) at Homeland Baptist Church, Kingsport with the funeral to follow at 7pm with Pastor J.W. Depew and Rev. Rex McMurray. Graveside services will be at 10am on Saturday (March 1, 2014) at the McMurray Cemetery in Hiltons, Va. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Scott County Funeral Home by 9:15am. Pallbearers will be Chris Luster, Brad Brown, Larry Ricketts, Joe Broadwater, Phillip Flores and Grady Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers are Jack McMurray Jr, Allen Flores and Gary Spears. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their prayers and concern with a special thanks to Wellmont Hospice on the 3rd floor of Wilcox Hall for their wonderful care and love they showed the entire family.
