Judy L. Taylor

Judy L. Taylor, daughter of Raymond and Victoria (nee Leair) Griffith, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. She was the youngest of four children. Judy attended school in one block. Union junior and senior in Waukesha, graduating in 1953. In 1954, she was introduced to a young man fromVermont. She and Charles Taylor were married on May 25, 1957. They were married almost 42 years when he died. They raised two sons, Jim and Ted. She loved being a mother and being a grandmother to Savannah and Melaini who brought her great joy. Volunteering was a very important part of Judy’s life. She volunteered at the Salvation Army for over 30 years, the Civic Theater, and the hospital. She was also a girl scout and cub scout leader. Judy rode many times with her son, Jim, in the survivor’s ride, Ridin’ To A Cure, a motorcycle ride to raise money for breast cancer research. Judy understood the importance of education. She took many classes at WCTC and was an active member of Learning in Retirement, serving on the Special Events Committee. Church and faith were prominent and influential aspects in her life. She was an ordained minister in the Community of Christ; she taught Sunday School and was a women’s leader and worship commission chairman. Judy loved to travel. She and Charles visited many states, including Alaska twice. After her husband died, she continued to travel with her friend, Harriet Marks. Together, they visited New York, California, Washington D.C., Arizona, and many other places. Judy is survived by her sons, Jim (Diana) and Ted (Gail); her two Granddaughters, Savannah and Melaini; sister, Roberta Herman of GA; brother, Jerry (Barbara) Griffith of IL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-greats, and many cousins; dear friends, Harriet Marks, Marlene Douglas, and Nancy Borchardt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents; sister, Nancy Watkins; and nephew, Jamie Dudley. Visitation for Judy will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI 53188, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Services celebrating her life will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to her church, Community of Christ, 12320 W Bluemound Rd, Milwaukee, WI 53226, or to the Salvation Army, 445 Madison St, Waukesha, WI 53188, would be appreciated.
