Julia Ann Ball
September 15th, 1940 - August 8th, 2015
Julia Ann Ball (September 15, 1940 - August 8, 2015) passed away at home in Tacoma surrounded by her family. Julia was born on the Tulalip Reservation and raised in Tacoma. She attended Visitation Catholic School and St. Leo's High School. Julia received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College. She was a staff person for the Governor's Task Force on Indian Affairs, visiting numerous Indian communities throughout Washington State. She was especially proud of her work for the State Employment Security Office assisting Vietnamese refugees to settle in Tacoma after the Vietnam War, then continued to serve this community in the English-as-a-Second Language Program through the Tacoma Community House. She and her husband were also the proud owners of Hank’s Tavern in Tacoma. Mom's loving smile will be forever missed by her family Julie Ball, Alicia Aragon, Susan Stebbins, Leslie Ball, and her son, Donald Ball, Jr. as well as John Govern, her child by gift. She was blessed with grandchildren John, Martha, Alexandra, Cecelia, and Cameron, and four great-grandchildren Gabriela, Rayne, Khloe, and Aliah. Julia is survived by siblings Eugene Argel, Gregory Argel, and Martha Laronal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ball, her parents, Julian and Alyce Argel, and her brother, Julian Argel. A celebration of her life will be held at Titlow Lodge on August 16th from 11:00 a.m. to 3 :00 p.m. Address: 8425 6th Avenue, Tacoma, Washington 98465.
