Julia Forsythe
January 20th, 1927 - January 5th, 2021
Chicopee-Julia B. (Brosius) Forsythe, 93, passed away January 5, 2021. Born in Brookville, PA on January 20, 1927, she was the daughter of C.E. and Laura (Campbell) Brosius. Julia grew up in Brookville until she left to attend nursing school in Philipsburg, PA. In 1954, Julia met her husband, George W. Forsythe while each where serving in the military. They were married in Bangor, Maine and were together until George’s death in 1983. Julia proudly served her country in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1956. They raised their children in England, Montana, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Julia worked as a registered nurse in various capacities throughout the years. She has lived here in Chicopee since 1971 and in 1983, was predeceased by her husband. She loved to travel and see different parts of the country and world. One of her favorite and most often visited spots was in Maine. Time spent there brought her much happiness. In her leisure, she also enjoyed playing bridge and golf along with reading and spending time at her pool. Julia will be dearly missed by her two children, Cynthia Forsythe, with whom she lived, and George Forsythe of Hinsdale, IL along with her daughter in law, Jill and her grandson, Matthew Forsythe. She also is survived by her sister, Louise Evans of Lima, OH. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Paul and Richard Brosius. A chapel service will be held at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at a future date. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to the Elms College Nursing Program.
