August 17th, 1925 - October 5th, 2012
Garcia, Julia, 87, died a peaceful death on Friday October 5, 2012 at 11:55 pm. She moved to the Dade/Zephyrhills, Florida area 5 years ago. She was born in Mackey Texas on the A.P. Borden Farm just outside of Houston, Texas. She was a lifelong seamstress and tailor and worked for Steins Men's store in downtown Houston. She also worked for Woolworth and the South Houston School District. Julia was one of many "Rosie the Riveters" at Brown Shipyard in Houston where she worked as a welder during the WWII era. She is survived by her 8 grateful children and their wives: Raymond Garcia (Dawn), Alma Fleischer (Alfred), Silvia Diaz (Armondo), Leo Garcia (Ruth), Nick Garcia (Honni), Roland Garcia (Susan), Isaac Garcia (Jordon), and Julia Barron. She is also survived by her loving sisters Patsy Lopez & Janie Postel and her youngest brother Elias Gonzales. She is predeceased by her brothers, Vicente Gonzales and Daniel Gonzales, her sister Eloisa and her parents, Anacleto Gonzales and Dolores Vargas Gonzales. She loved her 20 grandchildren: Annette, Christopher, Jonathon, Kimberly, Conrad, Corey, Krystal, Bradley, Isaac, Daniel, Monique, Jesse, Melissa, Vanessa, Jessica, Alyssa, Arabella, Lauren and Taylor and Kyle (with whom she will be buried). Julia also had 17 great grandchildren, one on the way and numerous extended family members and friends. We will miss her smile and great sense of humor. The memorial service will be held at The Kingdom Hall 5303 Yale in Houston, TX on Saturday October 20, 2012 at 11:00 am.
