June 24th, 1931 - August 29th, 2024
In Loving Memory
June Roberts, 93, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Colonial Gardens Memory Care in West Columbia, South Carolina. She was born June 24, 1931 in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Lewis Hogan Douglas and Lilian Hardy Douglas. In addition to her parents, June was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Emerson Roberts, and siblings Edward “Eddie” Douglas and Miriam “Mickie” Tice.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her daughter Cindy Amick (Bruce); sons Russell Roberts and Byron Roberts (Kelly); six grandchildren Stephen Amick (Lauren), Bryce Amick (Savannah), Tyler Roberts, Zachary Roberts (Rachel), Casey Roberts, and Nicholas Roberts; and six great grandchildren Emerson and Elijah Amick, Anna Bryce and James Amick, and Reagan and Leighton Roberts.
June graduated high school from Richmond Academy in Augusta, Georgia. She also graduated from Emmaus Bible College in Chicago, Illinois and spent time in Cuba in the 1950’s. Upon returning to the United States, she graduated from the University of South Carolina and was a Spanish teacher for one year at Dreher High School in Columbia, South Carolina. She and Emerson were married on March 25, 1959. After the birth of her first child Cindy in 1960, she chose to become a stay-at-home mom and also did some substitute teaching. June was a faithful member of Bethany Chapel in Columbia, South Carolina for over 50 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and the church pianist for some of that time. She also spent many years as a teacher for Child Evangelism Fellowship of South Carolina. June loved playing the piano, the Spanish language, Spanish music, reading the Bible and devotionals, shopping, rocking in a rocking chair, twisting her hair, watching ice skating, spending time with children, her husband and family, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She lived a life in service to others and the Lord. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers and staff at The Legacy of Lexington and Colonial Gardens Memory Care for their compassionate assistance with June during her final years.
