Justine Cozad, 99, died at Life Care Center of Greeley July 23, 2011. She was born March 23, 1912 in Yugoslavia, and came from the old country to America as an infant. She was raised in Yankee, Sugarite, and Raton, NM. In 1928 she married J.T. Warren, a coal miner (deceased), and in 1929 she had a son, James Lon Warren (deceased-1977) who was born in Dawson, NM. In 1940 she married Floyd Cozad, a U.S. Postal inspector, of Joplin, MO and they were married for 64 years before he went home to the Lord. Justine was a hard worker. She was raised in coal mining camps, was an avid gardener and also an exceptional seamstress. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, Jimmy Warren II and Nonie Sheel. She was known as the "greatest grandmother in the whole wide world”. Floyd’s job took them from Joplin, MO to the Hawaiian Islands, Chicago and San Diego. Justine accepted the Lord while attending Bible study at the Bridge Assisted Living Center in Greeley. Justine is survived by daughter-in-law, Betty Warren, her husband Jake Reese and grandchildren, Bernadette Warren (James Lon II) and Nonie (William) Sheel; great grandchildren, Stacy (Sheel) Maddera (Collin McCloud), Tori (Warren) Spicola (Alan), Cori (Warren) Spence (Cory), Charli (Warren) Tinlin (Mike), James Warren III (Dori), Annie (Sheel) Erickson (Daniel), and Cassie Sheel; 12 great-great grandchildren, (in order of birth) are: Tyler Spence, Ryan Maddera, Daytona Spicola, Maximus Maddera, Bella Spence, Cash Spence, Ashton Warren, Pypr McCloud, Knox Tinlin, Madeline Warren, Asher Erickson, and Saxon McCloud. Justine is also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews. Justine’s parents preceded her in death, John Paulich and Josephine (Glas) Paulich along with her siblings. They were: Angela, Maria, Annie, Frank, John, Joey, Tony, and Bessie. In 2005 Justine’s great grandson, Jay Schneider (Annie) also preceded her in death. Through the last decade of her life she was blessed with many loving caregivers from the Bridge and Life Care Center of Greeley. A gathering to celebrate "Grandma Cozy’s” life will be at Bill and Nonie Sheel’s residence with Arni Burron officiating. Any of Justine’s friends or friends of the family are welcome to attend. The gathering and celebration of Justine’s life will be at the Sheel Gardens, 1:00 p.m. Sunday July 31, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Jay Schneider Christian Scholarship Fund”, in care of Adamson Funeral and Cremation Services, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
