Karen Sue Bryant, 76, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away June 24, 2024. Born December 17, 1947, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Shirley Woods.

She was a devoted member of A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC. Along with attending services she enjoyed spending time with the WELCA group, taught Sunday school, and working with the Room at the Inn outreach. Karen’s joy and passion after retirement was her volunteering at Paw Creek Elementary School. What started as a once a week reading visit, soon turned into an almost everyday involvement as an assistant in a Kindergarten class for several years. She loved helping the school, the teachers, but she especially loved helping the kids.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Basil Bryant, Jr; sons, Mike (Stephanie) and P.J. (Jennifer); grandkids Tabor and Remington; and brother John Woods

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bryant is preceded in death by her sister-in-law Donna Woods.

The family will receive friends from 10AM to 11AM on Saturday, July 20, 2024 in the Education building at A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church 8200 McClure Circle, Charlotte NC 28216. A memorial service for Karen will immediately follow in the sanctuary officiated by Pastor John Merck. Burial will take place at later date at Quantico National Cemetery.
