Groff, Karen Lou Burns, 58, St. Petersburg, died Sunday November 23, 2003. She was born in Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio to Martha C. Burns and the late Louis G. Burns and came here in 1985 from Falls Church, Virginia. She was a graduate of Northampton School for Girls and attended Russell Sage College and Louisiana College. She was a homemaker, a member of the St. Petersburg Woman?s Club, the St. Petersburg Retired Officers Wives Club, Infinity, the Boys and Girls Club, and a volunteer with the Florida International Museum and the American Red Cross. Her support of various charitable organizations culminated in her selection as a Princess of the Queen of Hearts Ball organization in 2001. Besides her mother, Martha C. Burns of West Hartford, Connecticut, she is survived by her son, Major John F. Groff and his wife, Patricia of O?Fallon, Illinois; two grandchildren, Rebecca and William; a sister, Barbara Burns of Viola, Tennessee; and three nieces. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center ? Ninth Street Chapel.
