November 23rd, 1949 - April 16th, 2010
Karen C. Larson, M.D., of Oro Valley, passed April 16th 2010 at the age of 60. Born in Olympia, Washington November 23, 1949 to Richard and Victoria Crippen; she was valedictorian of her high school in Burley, Idaho where she also lettered in track and was a celebrated accordionist. She attended Utah State University graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in zoology. She received her medical degree from the University of Arizona in 1975 and trained in family practice before becoming board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She began practice in Tucson, AZ in 1980. She cared profoundly for her patients and left an indellible impression on many with her generosity, compassion and ability to heal both the body and mind. Karen enjoyed sports and volunteered as the team physician for local football and hockey teams. She had a brilliant mind with an incredible ability to grasp a wide variety of complex subjects. She loved to read. In addition she had a deep and abiding love for nature and its creatures. She was genuinely true and selfless and loving and inspiring. She will be profoundly missed. Karen is survived by her son, Ethan, her aunts Marian and Ruth of Des Moines, Iowa and her kitty kats Stormianna, Robert and Mia. Memorial service will be Saturday April 24th at 4PM at the Angel Valley Funeral Home, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. with a reception to follow.
