Karen Sue Sheedy
July 30th, 1951 - April 5th, 2013
Karen Sheedy of Portland passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born to Amy and Yoshio Nagaki, Karen grew up on the Nagaki farm outside of Ontario, Oregon. Karen met Michael Sheedy at OSU. They were married in 1972, and moved to Portland, where Karen graduated in 1973 with a BS degree in Medical Technology. Karen worked in the Chemistry Dept at OHSU, then later at the Portland VA Hospital, working in Chemistry and Toxicology. Karen was a dedicated mother and hard worker, raising four daughters while pursuing her professional life. She enjoyed traveling, reading, yoga, and cake decorating. Karen is survived by husband Michael, daughters Allison, Carolyn, Heather, and Diana, as well as sisters Carole Scheck and Gail Nagaki, brothers Tom, Dick, and Gary Nagaki, and her parents Amy and Yoshio Nagaki. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, April 11 at the West Hills Baptist Church, 6501 SW Multnomah Blvd, Portland, OR. Donations may be sent to the Oregon Food Bank or The Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
