Katherine "Kitty" May August

May 26th, 1931 - August 25th, 2024

Katherine May “Kitty” August 93, of Valparaiso, IN, and formerly of Seminole, FL passed away on August 25, 2024. 

 

Kitty was born on May 26, 1931, in Moriah, NY, the daughter of Ruth Jack and Elroy Hedges.  She married George August and he precedes her in death.

 

Also preceding her in death is her daughter, Janet Townsend; her parents; and siblings, William, Ted, Charlie, Freddie, Jimmy, Theresa, Ilene, and Richard.

 

Surviving is her granddaughters, Katrina (Scott) Lonadier and Dawn (David) Keller; and grandson, Ryan Potter.  Also surviving is her daughter, Sheila (Rob) Andrews, and their children, Deanna (Richard) Hoyt, Kim (Jim) Dupree, and Jolene (Randy) Pyles; a sister, Arlene; great-grandchildren, Scott, Kara, George, Keira, Shannon, Rory, David, Daniel, McKenna, Aleksys, Bobby, Kristi, Kerri, Michael, Pam, Holly, Jordyn, Malachi, and Magenta; and great, great-grandchildren, Mya, Oliver, George, David, Gracie, Jimmie, Ever, Perseus, Ava, Kimber, Major, Anthony, Jeffrey, Autumn, Gabriel, and Summer

 

Kitty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a volunteer at the VA, and she belonged to the AMVETS and the American Legion.  She loved to dance, listen to music, play dice, travel, go out with her friends, and watch movies.  She was a hard worker, and she was a homemaker for the Priest at the Diocese of Blessed Sacrament. 

 

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 12pm to 1pm at Reese Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life following at 1pm.  Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, George.
