Katherine C. Denning

"Palmer, Katherine C. Denning, 87, died peacefully June 10 at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. She has been a resident of Orchard Valley for the past three years, having lived most of her life in Palmer. Born in Palmer, August 7, 1920, Katherine was the daughter of the late Jerry and Catherine (Hurley) Denning. She graduated from Palmer High School, Class of 1937 at the age of sixteen. She worked at the former Better Brush offices for 15 years and later worked at Diamond National in the Personnel Department until she retired in 1997, at the age of 77. Katherine was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and a member of the Palmer Circle #408, Daughters of Isabella for over 60 years. During that time, she was proud to be Regent of the Circle. A former member of the Board of Directors of Wing Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, she also enjoyed volunteering at the Gift Wing. She is survived by her two sisters, Margaret Backus and Maureen Minns, both of Palmer, along with many nieces and nephews to whom she was lovingly referred as "Auntie Kath". Along with her parents, two brothers Timothy and Richard Denning, a sister in law Ruth, as well as several nieces and nephews preceded her in death. A calling hour will be Friday, June 13 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donation in her memory to Baystate Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield. "
