Katherine (Kay) Willcox of Aptos passed away on May 4. Kay was born in San Jose, CA to Ruth and Francis Kincaid in 1937. Kay graduated from Willow Glen High in 1955 and was valedictorian of her graduating class. Kay went on to study at San Jose State and graduated in 1958 with a degree in business education. She began teaching at Del Mar High in Campbell at age 21. In 1959 Kay married Forrest Willcox. In 1970 the family moved to Aptos, CA. After taking time off to raise her two children, Kay returned to education at Harbor High and then as a teacher of business at Santa Cruz High. Kay was a devoted and dedicated teacher for over 20 years. In addition to teaching, Kay loved traveling the world with Forrest and spending time with and caring for her grandchildren. Kay played important roles in many organizations and groups including: Delta Kappa Gamma (teaching sorority) and the United Methodist Church of Aptos. Kay is survived by the love of her life for over 60 years, Forrest Willcox, her sister and best friend Carol Thompson of Los Gatos, her two children, Sherri Harrell and Mike Willcox and her four beautiful grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held for Kay on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, 221 Thunderbird Drive in Aptos beginning at 2 o'clock PM.
