Kathleen "Kathy" Doyle, 80 of St. Petersburg, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL. She was preceded in death by her parent, Bertha (Opalski) and Nicholas Van Czak and her brother Nicholas "Nick" Van Czak. Kathy is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Thomas "Tom" Doyle, daughter Caroline (John) of Orlando; sons, Thomas (May) of Cincinnati, OH and Kevin (Paula) of Seminole, FL; grandchildren Christina of Louisville, KY, Caitlin and Brennan of Cincinnati, OH. Born in Trenton, N.J., she graduated from Hamilton High School where she swam and played field hockey. Kathy taught water safety and lifesaving skills for the Red Cross. Kathy graduated with Honors in Elementary Education (B.A) from Trenton State College and was a member of Zeta Tau soroity. She received a M.A. from University of South Florida in 1980. She taught elementary classes in several cities during her 30 year career specializing in remedial reading. Kathy was a parishioner of St. Raphael Catholic Church twice for a total of 30 years. In the early years, Kathy served on the Parish Council, was the swim team coach, and a coach of the cheerleading squad.She loved swimming and competed in synchronized swimming and water polo while in college. She was pashionate about children and cats. She selflessly chauffeured the three children all over Pittsburgh and neighboring towns for their many activities- soccer, swim meets, baseball, hockey, etc. She was den mother for Indian Guides. All communications ended with "I love you". She was an ardent sports fan and sat through many Army-Navy games in all sorts of foul weather. Holidays were always a joyful time and an opportunity for Kathy to express her love for family, friends, and those who needed to feel loved. Kathy was a gentle woman of grace, faith, and elegance. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Kathy was a caring woman and was loved by all who knew her. She is greatly missed!
