Kathleen “Kathy” Graves, 84, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on 4 May 2022 surrounded by her children. Born 29 March 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rosemary Cuddahee. Kathy was a true caregiver. Even as a child, she always wanted to be a nurse, wife, and mother. Kathy loved working as an ER and OR recovery room nurse, but her favorite role in life was wife to her beloved husband, David Edmund Graves, with whom she was married for 55 years, and proud mother of five, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of two. Kathy led a life devoted to family and faith. In addition to spending time with her family, she loved animals, gardening, music and musicals, and even made a national commercial advertising the laundry detergent, Fab. She brought light and happiness to whatever she did and to whomever she met. Kathy is survived by her adoring children, Anne Marie Graves of Charlotte, NC, Robert “Bob” Graves of Arlington, VA, and Erin Graves of Arlington, VA; daughter-in-law, Rita Graves of York, SC; grandchildren, Amanda Carroll and her husband, Matt, of Ladson, SC, Dr. Laurie Graves and her husband, Dylan Lanphere, of Durham, NC, Morgan Bowers and her husband, Jesse, of Boiling Springs, SC, and David M. Graves, Jr. of York, SC; great-grandchildren, Abigail Carroll and Hudson Bowers; sisters-in-law MaryAnn Wenger and her husband, Chuck, of Berkeley, CA, and Sally De Witt of San Marino, CA; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David; sons, David M. Graves and John Graves; brother, Richard Cuddahee and his wife, Kay; and brother-in-law, Richard De Witt. Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, 14 May 2022, with a rosary at 1pm and a funeral mass at 1:30pm at St. Ann Catholic Church, with Rev. Timothy S. Reid officiating, 3635 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC. Burial will follow at River Hills Community Cemetery.
