Kathryn Kay Banderet
October 3rd, 1935 - November 13th, 2018
Obituary Kathryn Kay (Peterson) Banderet passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Sherwood Village Assisted Living in Tucson, Arizona, where she spent the last four and a half years of her life. Known to family and friends as Kathy, she was born in Fargo, North Dakota, October 3, 1935. After graduating from Moorhead High School in 1953, Kathy was working at a local movie theater when she met her first husband, Dick Ramage. They married and moved to El Paso, Texas where he was an instructor in the guided missile department of the Army. After a move back to North Dakota, they had two children together, Cindy and Rick. Kathy met her second husband, Francis Banderet, while working as an Executive Secretary for New Holland Equipment Company in Denver, Colorado in the early 70’s and together they had a son, Trevor. Though Kathy and Francis later divorced, they remained good friends. Kathy had many interests. She was a member of the Northglenn Garden Club, Women’s Bible Fellowship, Junior League and served in several philanthropic organizations over the years. She loved big band and classical music, loved to read (especially her Bible) and she loved to dance. The two biggest loves of her life were God and her family. As her children married and started having families of their own, and then her grandchildren started having their own children, she would say her nightly prayers were taking longer and longer and she felt so blessed by that. “I pray for everyone in my family, every night by name.” Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florence Peterson, brother Howard, sister Dorothy Bray, brother Larry, sister Ruth Halgrimson, sister Marge Krabbenhoft and stepson Tye Banderet. Kathy is survived by her three children, Cindy (Jim) Kelley of Tucson, Arizona; Rick (Teri) Ramage of Thornton, Colorado and Trevor (Yvonne) Banderet, of Thornton, Colorado. She was known as both Nanny and Grandma to her grandchildren: Nicole (Eric) Mikkelson, Josh (Rachel) Kelley, Danielle (Joe) Geck, Ryan (Jenna) Ramage, Jessica (Jon) Eidsness, Travis Banderet, Tanner Banderet, Reed Butcher and Meghan Butcher. Great grandchildren: Delaney and Brody Mikkelson, Griffin and Greyson Geck, Cayde Ramage, Olivia Kelley, Lysander and Ambrose Eidsness. She is also survived by her brother, Greg (Char) Peterson of Moorhead, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. Kathy’s wishes upon her death, were to keep things simple –a family celebration of her life was all she wanted, though she once teased us to say if we really wanted to do something over the top –a parade would be fine with a big marching band playing ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’. The parade turned out to be a single motorcycle carrying her remains yesterday, with a very loud rendition of “Saints” playing over the speakers. No doubt, she’s in Heaven, smiling with delight.
