Kathy Dersch

Obituary Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend Katherine (Kathy) Mary Dersch, 71 was surrounded by her family when she went to be with Jesus on May 11, 2017. Kathy was born February 25, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Bethany Nazarene College where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in teaching and later her Masters Degree. Upon graduation Kathy moved to Tell City, Indiana as a Home Economics Teacher. There she met Wayne Dersch, the love of her life and husband of 45 years. In addition to teaching and raising her two girls she received her real estate license. She had a passion and raw talent in home design and interior decorating. Prior to moving to Avon in 1990 she started her own decorating and design business. She helped in the design and decorating of many homes of her friends and family. Mom and dad were always building or renovating homes, this was something they loved to do together. Kathy loved socializing, hosting parties, home decorating, warm weather, and the beach. However, her family and friends were her delight. Kathy is survived by her Loving and Devoted Husband Wayne; daughters, Michelle (Ben) Strange of Plainfield, IN and Tracy (Ryan) Owens of Parker, CO; 3 grandchildren, Braden Strange, McKenna Strange and Joshua Owens; mother, Dorothy Griffin; brothers, Robert (Bob) Griffin and Tim (Karen) Griffin; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna, her father, Dr. Robert Griffin and her granddaughter Jolie. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
