Kathy Renee Hawkins
Kathy Renee Childress Hawkins, 48, of Beaufort, died on 3 July 2013. She was originally from North Carolina prior to joining and serving in the Navy. She retired from the Navy after 21 plus years of faithful and honorable service. She began her career in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman specializing in the fields of diagnostic imagery (x-ray) and Ultrasound. She was selected to attend the Navy’s Physician Assistant program and upon graduation was commissioned a Naval Officer in the Medical Service Corps in 2000. Her many duty stations were located in San Diego (CA), Jacksonville (FL), Beaufort (SC), and Bethesda (MD). She is survived by her son, Jackson Bryan Joseph Hawkins. Prior to joining the Navy she graduated with a degree in education from Pfeiffer University in North Carolina and provided education to elementary grade level students. Kathy closed her life with many successes and will be greatly missed by the many that knew her and the many that she blessed. Arrangements are by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services.
