Kay Artis Smith, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. She was born in Ashland, KY, daughter of the late John H and Helen B Artis. Kay taught at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY for 26 years, and also coached their girls' golf team for 9 years. She was an avid golfer and card player as well as UK basketball fan and enjoyed cooking and reading. Surviving her are her brother John W. Artis of Ashland, KY, her brother-in-law William P. Spining of Brentwood, TN and five nieces and nephews, along with a wonderful group of friends who were as dear as family to her. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol A. Spining of Brentwood, TN. As is so typical of Kay, she had her final farewell well-planned prior to her death and invites all to come, laugh, reminisce and enjoy a toddy with her at Clark Legacy Center on Brannon Rd. from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
