Keith Klock

Biography OBITUARY Keith Kay Klock passed away on September 15th after an extended period of illness. He was born in Eldorado, Kansas on November 29, 1919. He was pre-deceased by his father John Lee Klock in 1941, his Mother Lula Maude Klock in 1987, brother Donald Klock, sister Elva Lucille Campbell and son Richard Klock, first wife Bettie Klock and second wife Betty Klock. He is survived by his wife Mary C Klock of Viera, Florida, sister Lois Thornhill of La Mesa, California, daughter Barbara Goedert of Dothan, Alabama and daughter Lynda Nelson of Simi Valley, California. He had 9 grand children, 12 great grand children and 3 great-great grandchildren. After living for many years in Morro Bay, California, He and his wife Mary moved to Indian River Colony Club in Viera, Florida in July, 2003 where he spent many happy years. Keith spent a total of 37 years in the service of his country in the Army of the United States. He entered the service at Fort MacArthur, California on January 2 1942 and was separated from the service at Fort Lewis, Washington on November 29, 1979 into the Military Retired Reserve Service. Keith served in 4 different branches of the Army. They were Field Artillery, Signal Corps, Corp of Engineers and Transportation Corps. He attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was awarded several honors while in the service which included, The Meritorious Service Award, Superior Unit Awards and many letters of commendation in addition to his numerous service medals. In his civilian activities he has been a building contractor, radio & communication specialist, Chief of a 40 man police force, Manager of a large Housing development, Director of Purchasing for The Housing Authority City of Los Angles, President of the East Los Angeles Kiwanis Club, Director of the Boyle Heights Coordinating Council and a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Boy Scouts of America. In his spare time he was an organizer of Senior Citizen Clubs in the City of Los Angeles. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, golf, travel and cards especially Bridge and Pinochle. He had travelled many times on cruises and trips to places all over the world. He enjoyed numerous traditional jazz festivals in both the United States as well in foreign countries. He will be cremated and buried at the Bushnell Military Cemetery in Florida. The Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home located at 5400 Village Drive, Viera, Florida will be making the arrangements. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to the Fresno Dixieland Society in Fresno, California.
