Kellen Troy Kidd, Franktown, Colorado December 19, 1989 - September 15, 2016 Kellen Troy Kidd, 26, passed away unexpectedly at his home due to an asthma attack on September 15, 2016. Kellen was born December 19, 1989 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, the first in a family of six children and two foster children. Family and friends describe Kellen as focused, smart, funny, kind and resilient. In his short life he endured severe asthma, hearing loss, a sleep disorder, and his father’s diagnosis of terminal cancer. He was blessed with a close-knit family that encouraged, supported and loved him dearly. Kellen graduated from Ponderosa High School and attended Colorado State University, where he studied business. He put that knowledge to use in the family business, FormTight, a plastics manufacturing company founded by his father, Darren Kidd. Kellen worked as a Customer Service Sales Manager. A businessman from the start, Kellen was only eight years old when he showed signs of enterprise: buying discounted after-Easter candy and reselling to his classmates; creating his own business cards and establishing his own bank account; and working at his father’s business since he was nine years old. Kidd was an avid baseball player, coach and fan. His fondest memories were playing on the baseball team his father coached, Parker Reds, from age 10 to 13. He later coached the Scrappers with his father, umpired countless games, and traveled to Cooperstown with the Parker Warhawks. He was big brother to his siblings, with whom he took a protective leadership role, and quickly bonded with his foster siblings, Luis and Brianna. Kellen had a passion for research, stemming from a tumor discovered when he was 17. Though operable, the benign acoustic neuroma compromised his hearing and he became dedicated to researching medical conditions and solutions. Kellen Kidd was the son of Darren and Cindi Kidd, and big brother to Whitney, Corey, Kim, D.J., Rosey, Luis and Brianna. He was grandson of Andre and Margaret Myron; nephew of David and Drew Rieseck, and Karen Kidd. He was cousins with Jesse and Garrett Troxell, and several others. The family donated Kellen’s tissue, bone, skin and cornea to Donor Alliance. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 5 to 7pm at Ponderosa Valley Funeral Services. A celebration of Kellen's life will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 2pm at Parker United Methodist Church in Parker, Colo. All who knew and loved Kellen are welcome to attend. The family suggests contributions in Kellen’s name to youth sports organizations, particularly those that help disadvantaged youth participate in sports, or to Ponderosa High School Sports Scholarship Fund established by the family of Spencer Pannwitz, friends of the Kidd family.
