Kenneth Charles Crombie
March 26th, 1929 - April 7th, 2017
On April 7th, 2017 Kenneth broke the bonds of earth to touch the face of God. He passed peacefully at his home in Santa Barbara. Born March 26, 1929 in New Brunswick, Canada, his parents Charles and Clara Crombie moved to the United States and Ken became a proud American citizen April 10th, 1957. Ken was proud of being a Veteran of the Armed Forces. In 1951 he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. As a Private First Class he received two Bronze Service Stars and a UN Service Medal. Ken graduated with honors at Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1957. He was employed at A.C.Spark Plug in Milwaukee and earned his Masters' degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1971. In 1972 he moved his family to Santa Barbara where he worked for Delco Electronics until retiring in 1994. Ken enjoyed hiking with Sierra Club on Friday nights. He loved walking long distances and whistling. He was known by his neighbors as the whistler. Ken loved helping people and thinking of ways to give to others. He served as a Deacon for many years at the Community of Christ church. He will be missed by the great number of people whose lives he touched. One of his God given talents was his ability to listen. He is survived by his son Kenneth Jr. & daughter-in-law Michele, daughter Sherryl & son-in-law Douglas Harlow; daughter Kathleen & son-in-law Eric Crandall; grandsons Michael & James Giordano, Shane Harlow, and granddaughters Kendell & Skylar Crombie, Catherine Harlow and great-grandson Caleb Giordano. We wish to celebrate & remember Kenneth's life with a graveside service on Thursday April 13th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Goleta Cemetery located at 44 S. San Antonio Rd. Santa Barbara All are welcome to attend. A gathering and time of sharing will be held for family and friends following the service at the home of Sherryl & Doug Harlow.
