Ken Deacon, 81, of Feather Sound passed away peacefully Saturday, August 25th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Detroit, Michigan to Kenneth and Ruth Annabelle Deacon, Ken graduated from Thomas M. Cooley high school in 1954. He graduated from the University of Miami in 1959, served in the U. S. Navy from 1959-1963, where he was selected for the JAG Core. Ken Married Eleanor Hancock in 1961 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 56 years. Early in their marriage Ken graduated from Stetson College of Law in 1966. Ken started his law career in St. Petersburg at Deacon and Brickley. Later, he was with Harris, Barrett, Mann & Dew 29 for years and in 1999, he along with Gail Moulds founded Deacon & Moulds which will celebrate its 19th anniversary this September. He was president of the St. Petersburg Bar Association, served on the Board of Governors for The Florida Bar, and was a member of ABOTA along with numerous positions within the law community. Ken was Adjunct Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law from 1969-1987. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the St. Petersburg Yacht club where he was a member for 52 years Ken is survived by his children: son Kenneth C. Deacon III (Nancy); daughters, Elizabeth A. Piatt, (Doug), and Eleanor C. Raniszewski, (Timothy); and grandchildren, Natalie Marie Deacon and Michael Spencer Piatt. A Gathering of friends and family is scheduled for 1 pm, with a formal service at 2 pm Friday, September 7, at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. Martin Luther King St. North. Following the service, family, friends, and neighbors are invited to a Celebration of Life at 4 pm. at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, 11 Central Avenue. During the Celebration we welcome stories and memories of our wonderful father. In Lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to your local Hospice.
