Kenneth Richard Dunphy, born November 11, 1967, of the Charleston area, passed away of natural causes Sunday, January 30, 2022. Ken was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts where he acquired a great love for the outdoors, especially the water. After completing an associates degree in Business Communications, Ken spent several years working for Home Depot and a few other retail stores. In 2009 he decided to take his love of the outdoors and working with his hands to open up his own handyman business. For the next 12 years Ken spent his time helping others, as both customers and friends. Ken was always ready and willing to help those in need. Known by many as a gentle giant, Ken’s tall stature was a reflection of the depth of his tender and compassionate heart. Ken fell in love with Jodi the moment he met her. They were married February 18, 2012 and were truly the best of friends. Meeting Jodi was a pivotal time in Ken’s life. The two of them loved spending time with all of their family and valued the time spent investing in their nieces and nephews. Becoming a father to Charlie brought out a new kind of tenderness and purpose to Ken. His bond with Charlie was deep and one of a kind. Ken loved being a dad and gained immense joy watching Charlie grow. His proudest moments were teaching Charlie how to use a power tool before he was even walking. Ken is survived by his wife, Jodi Dunphy and son Charles Schepers. Parents, Richard and Shirley Dunphy, sister Julie Dunphy, sister Alison Shearer (Robert) and nephew Harrison and many other loved ones. Memorial service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Lighthouse Church 1177 Gregorie Ferry Rd Mt. Pleasant, SC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Ken to East Cooper Habitat for Humanity.
