Kenneth C. Jahelka
May 7th, 1930 - February 13th, 2012
Kenneth Clifton Jahelka, 81, passed away peacefully Monday February 13, 2012. He was born to Ada and Louis Jahelka on May 7, 1930 on Long Island NY. He graduated from Mineola High School, Oswego State University and Hofstra University. He worked in the Levittown Public Schools, Long Island, NY for thirty years. He started in 1957 as an Industrial Arts teacher and retired in 1987 as the Director of Industrial Arts and Vocational Education. During his career in Levittown, Ken had the reputation of being an outstanding teacher, coach and administrator. He influenced the lives of his students and served as a mentor to his staff. Kenneth moved to Florida in 1987 and was very active in the golf community of Melbourne Beach. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Thomson Jahelka; three children, Judith Kur (Barry), Laura Fleming and Kenneth (Pete) Jahelka; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and close friends. He will be greatly missed. The funeral mass will take place at Immaculate Conception Church, Melbourne Beach on February 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to William Childs Hospice House Foundation, Immaculate Conception Church or the charity of your choice.
