Kenneth William Kohler
April 29th, 1930 - June 12th, 2017
Kenneth William “Bill” Kohler Jr. was a friendly character who lived a life that was full of laughter and adventure. He really had never met a stranger! Bill grew up in Richmond Virginia where he had life long friends and remained active in the Alumni activities at Thomas Jefferson High School. While in Virginia, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948 (just before his eighteenth birthday) and served our country during the Korean War. Bill decided to warm up and head west where he received his Masters degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. In California, he taught school as well as coached high school football. He retired as a school administrator with the Dublin Unified School District in Northern California. He was a collector of old classic cars and enjoyed restoring them to their glory days. Bill played racquetball for decades and had medals as a senior Olympian. In retirement, he relocated to sunny Baja Mexico. Puerto Vallarta warmed his soul and was where he spent many winters with the company of great friends. He’d read books, listen to guitar, and salsa danced the nights away. Dad loved camping with his family in breathtaking Yosemite. We will always treasure his fun tales told by the campfire. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth William Kohler Sr., mother Gertrude June Dreybus and sister Mary Kohler Stout. He leaves behind many cherished friends and a family who loved him dearly including a son, Kurt Kohler and two daughters Kelly Kohler and Kerry (Kevin) Kohler Pryor, four grandchildren Wyatt Kohler, Owen Kohler and Ella Kohler and Wylie Jordan. We will all miss his feisty wit and stunning blue eyes. Private services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California. Dad lived life to the fullest and most certainly did it “My Way.”
