Kenneth Krause
June 22nd, 1945 - June 4th, 2024
Kenneth A. Krause of Chico passed away June 4, 2024 at the age of 78. Ken was born to Albert and Doris Krause in Quincy, California. Shortly after his birth his parents moved to Chico to join grandparents and great-grandparents and other extended family. Throughout his life the family shared many family gatherings during holidays, camping and fishing trips in Fort Bragg or traveling across the country to Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Louisiana which were just a few of their favorite spots to spend the summers.
Ken attended Citrus Elementary School, Chico Junior and Chico High School, graduating in 1963. He was active in all sports during his school years but running of any kind was his first choice and he continued to run throughout his life, participating in running groups and races both locally and in other states.
Ken met Karen, his wife to be, in 1963 when she moved to Chico. They were married in 1966 and shortly afterwards Ken joined the Army serving in the 25th Infantry in Vietnam during 1967-1968. He returned home in 1968 and together he and Karen raised two amazing children, Jennifer and Daniel. Above all else, Ken's family were always first and foremost in his life.
Immediately after his discharge from the military Ken began working for Pacific Gas & Electric, spending 40 years in the hydro-electric maintenance department in many different capacities: hydro electrician; hydro maintenance supervisor; teaching assistant at the PG&E facility in San Ramon; and as a hydro specialist visiting many facilities throughout Northern California doing condition assessments and strategic investment prospects and eventually returning to what he enjoyed most, working with the crews on new installations and maintenance as a Crew Leader in the Feather River Canyon.
Ken was predeceased by their daughter Jennifer but leaves behind their son Daniel (Amanda) Krause of Brentwood, CA, son-in-law John Muelder and grandchildren Erich, Nathan, Emma, Matthew, Melanie and McIntire.
Ken requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Wounded Warriors Project. Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.brusiefh.com.
